Kormor Gas Restores Kurdistan Region Power Supply Within 24 Hours

The Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Electricity has confirmed the resumption of Kormor gas supplies to power generation plants, marking a key step toward resolving the recent widespread electricity outages across the region.

Officials said that Kormor gas flows have already begun to stabilize the grid, with full normalization expected within 24 hours.

The Kormor gas field in Chamchamal was previously hit by a rocket attack that caused significant material damage and halted around 80% of production, sharply reducing fuel supplies to power stations and triggering extensive power cuts affecting households and businesses.

In an official statement, the ministry said that Kormor gas transportation to power plants resumed early Sunday morning, noting that electricity supply is gradually improving and that the generation system is on track to return to normal operations shortly.

The regional government added that investigations into the attack are ongoing alongside intensive technical efforts to repair damaged facilities and secure sustainable energy production, reinforcing energy security and reducing the risk of future disruptions.
