Kormor Field Disruptions Reduce Electricity Supply Hours in Iraq

Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity announced a reduction in daily power supply hours across several areas, citing technical and security-related factors, most notably the disruption of gas supplies from the Kormor field.

The ministry said the decline reflects ongoing maintenance preparations as well as the direct impact of the recent attack on the Kormor field.

According to the statement, several power generation units were taken offline for routine maintenance ahead of the summer season, affecting overall output.

However, the suspension of gas flows following the targeting of the Kormor field was identified as the main driver behind the drop in electricity supply hours.

Officials noted that technical teams are working to mitigate the effects of the disruption, while security authorities are stepping up measures to protect critical energy infrastructure.

The ministry added that a full recovery in supply depends on restoring stable gas deliveries and completing scheduled maintenance work.
