Iraqi Ministry of Finance Clarifies Contract Salaries and Baghdad Governorate Claims

The Iraqi Ministry of Finance has issued an official clarification denying reports suggesting a halt in the payment of salaries for newly contracted public sector employees or claims that Baghdad Governorate is acting independently due to the budget’s expiration.

The Iraqi Ministry of Finance stressed that information circulating on social media and some websites regarding the inability to pay new contract salaries is inaccurate and was not issued by any official authority.

The Iraqi Ministry of Finance reaffirmed that salary payments for public sector contractors are continuing despite the legal expiration of the state budget, emphasizing that existing financial procedures ensure the protection of employees’ and contractors’ rights.

The ministry urged media outlets and the public to verify information through official channels, warning that misinformation can disrupt public opinion and undermine confidence in government financial management.
