Iraqi Electricity Sector Mobilizes to Face Weather Fluctuations and Secure Power Supply
Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity has declared a full emergency mobilization of all Iraqi electricity teams nationwide to confront weather fluctuations and heavy rainfall, as part of efforts to maintain power stability and address any potential grid disruptions.
The ministry’s spokesperson said that direct instructions were issued to deploy engineering, technical, and high-voltage crews, along with senior management, ensuring full readiness across the Iraqi electricity sector.
Field monitoring was intensified through control and maintenance centers, while warehouses remained operational around the clock to supply repair materials, reinforcing the ability of Iraqi electricity services to respond swiftly to emergencies.
Authorities confirmed that no major outages or failures were recorded in transmission lines, power plants, or substations, aside from minor feeder disruptions caused by rainfall, which were promptly repaired.
Coordination with Baghdad’s municipality and local authorities ensured uninterrupted power supply to rainwater pumping stations, hospitals, and water facilities, while hotlines remained active to receive public reports and complaints.
The ministry emphasized that emergency operations will continue 24/7 under a shift system until weather conditions stabilize.
