Health Insurance to Cover One Million Beneficiaries as Expansion Reaches Five New Provinces

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is moving forward with expanding the health insurance system after the number of beneficiaries in Baghdad reached nearly one million people from social welfare groups and persons with disabilities.

The ministry confirmed that hundreds of thousands of health insurance booklets have already been distributed, marking a significant step toward improving access to medical and treatment services for the most vulnerable segments of society.

Officials stated that the upcoming expansion of health insurance will include five additional provinces, once logistical infrastructure and beneficiary databases are fully prepared through newly established service offices.

The ministry also highlighted close cooperation with the Ministry of Health, which has resulted in the readiness of dozens of public and private hospitals to provide consultations and surgical services, alongside plans to replace paper booklets with electronic cards to enhance efficiency and strengthen the health insurance system nationwide.
