Farmers’ Dues Receive a New Payment Exceeding 233 Billion Dinars
Iraq’s Ministry of Finance has initiated the seventh funding tranche for farmers’ dues, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and ensuring financial stability for producers.
The payment covers marketed crops from the 2025 agricultural season.
According to an official statement, more than 233 billion dinars were transferred to the Ministry of Trade’s account to settle farmers’ dues related to wheat and rice deliveries, helping sustain food supply chains nationwide.
The ministry said the disbursement follows approval from the Prime Minister and directives from the Minister of Finance, as part of a fiscal approach aimed at regularizing farmers’ dues and strengthening trust between the state and agricultural producers.
The move is expected to ease financial pressures on farmers, encourage domestic production, and reinforce food security amid ongoing economic and climate-related challenges.
