DNO Launches New Expansion Phase at Tawke Oil Field to Boost Output to 100,000 Barrels
Norwegian oil and gas company DNO has announced the launch of a new expansion phase at the Tawke oil field in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, aiming to significantly increase production capacity in the coming years.
DNO stated that cumulative production from the Tawke field has now exceeded 500 million barrels, underscoring the field’s strategic importance within the company’s regional portfolio.
The company confirmed it will begin drilling eight new oil wells next week, marking the resumption of drilling operations after a two-and-a-half-year توقف.
Two large drilling rigs have already been mobilized to restart field activities.
Through this expansion, DNO targets a 25% increase in production capacity, lifting daily output from around 80,000 barrels to more than 100,000 barrels per day, with drilling expected to be completed by 2026.
The company’s chief executive noted that more than two decades of operational experience at Tawke give DNO strong confidence in its ability to unlock additional volumes from the field’s complex reservoirs, despite ongoing export challenges since 2023.
